The Kalachakra Mandala (Tibetan: Dus kyi 'khor lo) represents the profound teachings of the Kalachakra Tantra, considered the pinnacle of the Anuttarayoga Tantras — the highest class of Tibetan Buddhist tantra. Unlike other mandalas, the Kalachakra Mandala is uniquely designed to reflect the five elemental layers of the cosmos:

These elements surround a central palace and are color-coded according to their directional and symbolic energies:

-East – Black
-South – Red
-West – Yellow
-North – White
-Center – Green and Blue

In the Kalachakra tradition, the eight charnel grounds—which often surround mandalas in other tantric systems—are subtly implied as spinning wheels within the air and fire circles, adding to the mandala’s unique cosmological depth.
